We're an ETH Zurich spinoff and YC W23 startup, on a mission to bring personalized education to everyone through our AI-powered language tutor. We're on the lookout for a talented Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. Dive in, help us code, and shape learning for countless learners around the globe! 😊

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the server-side logic and features for our app, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to front-end requests.
• Work collaboratively with our front-end team to integrate APIs and optimize the communication of data between users and the server.
• Implement server-side logic using cloud functions to create scalable, maintainable, and easy-to-deploy features.
• Have a knack for security and spotting potential flaws
• Write clean, sustainable code and work on complex problem-solving to keep us innovating.

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, with solid knowledge of back-end programming.
• Experience with server-side logic and cloud functions.
• Familiarity with Firebase or similar databases is a plus.
• Previous work with LLMs (large language models) is highly advantageous, as is a good grasp of server-side data management and cloud function optimization.
• A keen interest in edtech and a passion for creating impactful, backend-driven user experiences.
